Barcelona's big festival of electronic music and digital culture, since 1994. For years split in two: Sónar by Day at Fira Montjuïc (Plaça d'Espanya, since 2013) and Sónar by Night at Fira Gran Via in L'Hospitalet (since 2001). In 2026 (18–20 June) for the first time entirely at Fira Gran Via without the day/night split, Sónar+D at the Llotja de Mar, around 150,000 visits according to the festival; new CEO François Jozic (Brunch Electronik). Queer share of the 2026 programme: Glitterbox, the fetish collective BULTO and the Madrid queer session CARBS. On 27 Oct 2026 the festival declared itself 'dead' (1994–2026) with an obituary in La Vanguardia, a coffin video and a book of condolences on sonar.es; whether that means the end, a new name or a restart is open. The announced dates of 17–19 June 2027 have disappeared from the website; early-bird passes (€155–295) had been sold without a line-up.

Einschätzung: kein queeres Festival, aber offen und divers mit einzelnen ausdrücklich queeren Programmpunkten (2026 laut The New Barcelona Post: BULTO, CARBS, Glitterbox). Riesiges, internationales Publikum, überwiegend gemischt, darum queer_wohlfuehlen 2. Allein machbar (viele Fachbesucher und Solo-Raver), in der Gruppe angenehmer. Status: Laut technoairlines und modofestival (Stand 28./30.10.2026) wurde 2027 weder abgesagt noch erklärt; La Vanguardia spekuliert über eine erneute Day/Night-Trennung mit Tagesteil im Port Vell, das Festival nennt das unbestätigt. venue_name ist der Ort 2026.
